NIHR National Conference

The NIHR Clinical Research Network is making significant progress towards changing the way that clinical research is delivered in the NHS. Our aim is to ensure that patients and healthcare professionals from across the country have access to and can take part in high quality clinical trials.

This year’s conference will showcase some of the work being delivered nationally by the NIHR Clinical Research Network to support researchers, NHS Trusts and companies undertaking clinical research in the NHS.

Diabetes UK Grant Funding News

Diabetes UK is committed to funding new research that has the potential to improve the lives of people living with diabetes. This year, despite the harsh economic climate, we have made new awards through all of our funding routes: PhD Studentships, Basic and Clinical Fellowships, Small grants, Equipment grants and Project grants in addition to maintaining a portfolio of existing research grants representing a total value of awards of around £20 million.

Patient & Public Involvement Strategy

The background to this strategy is a commitment by the Scottish Topic-Specific Research Networks (Primary Care, Diabetes, Stroke, Medicines for Children, Mental Health & Dementia) to ensure that patients, those who care for them and the public are actively involved in all aspects of the research process, including shaping the direction of Research Network development.

Diabetes 2010 and beyond: Knowledge into Practice

Diabetes UK Scotland, the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN), the Scottish Government and the Scottish Diabetes Industry Group will jointly host Diabetes 2010 and beyond: Knowledge into Practice on Tuesday 23rd March at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. A free scientific symposium will also be held on the afternoon of Monday 22nd March.
