RCPE Diabetes Symposium

Submitted by pgmcintosh on Wed, 25/05/2011 - 10:49

This one day programme will concentrate exclusively on diabetes and will be of interest to colleagues in both primary and secondary care. While therapeutic options for diabetes have expanded in the last decade their optimal use remains a challenge despite the modern guidelines culture. Therefore, RCPE are fortunate to have dynamic and engaging speakers who can impart a wealth of experience to complement the guidelines and protocols which are now so abundant in diabetes care. After an initial reflection on the slow, but steady, progress of diabetes treatments over the past 50 years, current new and future therapies will be examined. The interface between diabetes and pharmacogenetics will be reviewed followed by a controversial look at the ever-increasing burden of diabetes care on health economics.
