More primary and secondary care sites are joining the network every month and we now have registered sites in every Health board are in Scotland. The Research Register continues to roll out across the country with an uptake rate of more than 81% of patients being asked agreeing to join the register. We hope to commission some research in the next few months to look at the reasons why people want to be part of the Register. The portfolio of diabetes studies being conducted in Scotland also continues to grow and our recent audit showed 83 ongoing studies with many others in the set-up phase. These 83 trials mean that there are more than 15,500 people participating in diabetes trials in 2007 in Scotland. This shows a great commitment to diabetes research by both healthcare professionals and the public alike.
